Surya is a series of paintings that explores the energy and optimism of light. Surya is the Sanskrit name for the sun as well as the solar deity in Hinduism.
Made towards the latter part of the Covid 19 pandemic, Spring 2022 these paintings were influenced by a trip to India; they were made with the spirit of hope and seeing joy in the world. My focus was colour and light, using my materials in very direct manner to create layers of uncomplicated and generous shapes.
